girard-perregaux

I think Girard-Perregaux is one of the more elegant and slightly enigmatic classic Swiss old-guard manufactures. Whenever I see one, be it a modern interpretation or a vintage, they just seem to shine with something ‘other’. Hard to explain really. Take this 37mm 18ct gold case watch as an example. The signed movement is done with great panache and the calibre (can’t make out what it is) is just standout in my opinion. There is a simple 18K gold mark on the case back which also has a rather romantic ‘Industria Argentina’ stamp too. The dial is an unusual grey with lovely bisecting crosshairs and bold batons. It’s also double stamped with a large applied GP near the crown side.

The second hand has no subdial and looks as thought it was quite ground-breaking for the time - which I would guess is late 1950s or early 60s. GP has no serial number look up so unless you contact them with the serial number which is on the movement and pay for the information, it must remain an educated guess.
