ZENITH, SURF

Zenith watches are always interesting: the movements like the groundbreaking ‘El Primero’, the history, the bold 1970s shapes and the fact that they are the only watch brand allowed to print the word ‘pilot’ on their dial. I have a couple of Defy models in my collection and now have added this lovely Zenith ‘Surf’ model from the mid-70s. It has the movement 2572 PC Zenith which was only made between 1975 and 1978 apparently.

It’s a chunky fella and shows Zenith making great integrated stainless steel bracelets fifty years ago. It’s also really accurate as its a high beat movement powering the watch at 28,800 beats per hour.
