Omega, Seamaster 30 (SOLD)

sold out

The Seamaster range began in 1948 and the highly successful watch model is of course still evolving. The first Seamaster 30 was introduced in 1962 and the ’30’ refers to the size of the movement, not a depth rating.

The ’30’ is hand-wound and this version is the calibre 286 (created in 1961), which is a 17-jewel movement with sweep seconds.  Calibre 286 only ran from 1963 to 1966. The stainless steel case back features the famous Omega hippocampus, which is in good condition considering its age. It’s a really classic dress watch from the mid-1960s - with it’s thin indices and lovely clean sunburst dial. The watch is Ref. 135.007-66 and the serial number dates it to 1964.

The watch comes with a used, aftermarket leather strap but with a nice Omega buckle; it’s not known if this originally came with the watch. There are a few scratches on the case, unsurprising for a 50+ year old watch and there are more on the case back, which the images should show.
